Back of the Book:
With her knack for being in trouble's way, Sookie witnesses the firebombing of Merlotte's, the bar where she works. Since Sam Merlotte is now known to be two-natured, suspicion falls immediately on the anti-shifters in the area. Sookie suspects otherwise, but her attention is divided when she realizes that her lover Eric Northman and his "child" Pam are plotting to kill the vampire who is now their master. Gradually, Sookie is drawn into the plot-which is much more complicated than she knows...
My Thoughts:
So I've decided every Sookie book follows the same pattern. At the beginning of the book, she lets the men in her life make all her decisions because she's in love and of course they are looking out for her best interest and would never make a selfish decision, and then by the end, she's fed up and becomes resolved never to fall into that pattern again (but alas she does). Hopefully, the next and last book will have her staying true to her self. It'd be great if she could have a boyfriend who saw her as a partner and not as someone to protect (even from themselves). So far none of the men in her life fit that bill except maybe Quinn but he's off being dedicated to his Mom. And I'm going to be really mad if he shows up in the next book and sweeps her off her feet...
Lots happens in this book. We see some old characters (ala Miss Pelt and the Bards). We see more from the faeries that have been left behind and more about Sookie's origins (finally!). We see pretty much everyone who has ever carried a torch for Sookie. All in all, a good story. No real "mystery" per say. It's pretty obvious who the bad guy is throughout. Mrs. Harris has a lot to think about and plan before writing the next book. Good luck!

Yeah I agree. I will be super glad when she wraps up this increasingly repetitive series & gets on with something new. Disagree about Quinn. He can come back any ole time ;) Altho I think Sookie will choose Sam. She wants babehs.
